Sept 25 2013

Just checking in with myself (and my buddies out there :)

So life with 3 kids....sounds so scary right. Not really. There has been only 1 day in the past month where all 3 kids were crying at once.  Not bad.  Am I more tired? Sometimes.  I was used to broken sleep right before Tommy was born which helped a little in the transition of losing 8 hours of sleep...  I've figured out how to survive on a total of 6 hours of broken sleep.  I know it will pass.  Tommy is changing and growing fast.

I did a brief Costco trip with all 3 kids on my own about a week ago. Happily survived it.  It wasnt a big trip, but we got a few things we needed and Tommy slept the whole time. Score: 1 for Mom - 0 for kids.

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather - I love this season.

2 weeks

Pictures of my enormous belly the morning I delivered

 Mr. Tom - Newborn

 Mr. Tom, 2 weeks old

Me - 2 weeks post partum

Mr. Tom is growing fast, and thankfully I am shrinking (sorta fast).  One of the parts I dislike most after having a baby - trying to get to my old self again.  I've been running - slowly - 2 miles a few days a week with some light lifting. I can squeeze in 30 minutes to myself on some days so I take advantage of it.  Happy Friday!

The weather over here is foggy

I should clarify, the weather in this house has been foggy. HA! With so much going on, time is just flying so some days just feel like ya know, a fog.  We are all doing good though (in case anyone out there is wondering if we are alive...).

Our boy Tom had a weekly checkup for weight today and has put on a whole pound in a week!  Not sure whats in my breast milk but the doc was very happy.  He's doing good; he's plumped up and healthy.

Bob & Brooklyn seem to be doing well too. Brooklyn had a dentist appointment yesterday, and sadly she has 4 cavities. FOUR! Ugh.

I had my stitches removed this week - my least favorite appointment out of everything that happens when you have a baby.  Just grosses me out so much.  And, I've been suffering from spinal headaches. Didnt really understand what was going on until I saw my OBGYN and explained my pain.  They are excruciating and disabling if you dont get pain med in your system as soon as you feel them coming on.  I had no idea I was suffering from them, and its something they can treat in the hospital...today is the first day I dont feel one coming on, thank goodness.

Just wanted to write some things down for memories...have a good rest of the week!

Life as 5

A week has gone by since adding our 3rd little monkey to the circus, and it has been the easiest change - so far.  For me going from no kids to 1 was the hard, but having Brooklyn so close in age to Bobby was the hardest.  Tommy sleeps like a champ (he is on 4 hours of sleep right now as I type this), and eats like an athlete.  This has been the easiest change so far - now ask me this in another 6 months when Tommy is crawling everywhere and knocking everything over to see if I have the same answer!

Kids went back to LPLC yesterday - 4 golden hours to do whatever I want! It was filled with all the things I neglected all week, so the time went too fast but it was so helpful.  All the teachers there embraced us all like we had never left - and the kids took off to go see their friends and play the second we walked out to the playground.

Life this week was chaos - (come see my house for proof! lol) but its been fun.

TLR

Our little man, Thomas Lee Roed, born Friday 8/30/13 at 8:05am. 8lbs 8oz 20 inches long. He's the biggest baby we've welcomed into our family, Bobby was 7lbs something, Brooklyn was 6lbs 14oz.  The fog of a newborn has set in, if I get 3 or 4 hours straight sleep I feel good (sounds crazy to say that). I think my body has adjusted to operate on broken sleep, and I consume about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of coffee to help with the fatigue which seems to work good enough.

Our boy Tom eats like a champ, seems pretty easy going so far.  Kids are in love with him, especially Brooklyn. Brooklyn has to have a morning cuddle with Tommy as soon as she wakes up.  We are adjusting to our new normal, this transition seems to be the easiest so far - and it helps that both kids are pretty independent and understand (and follow!) direction most of the time. Both are pretty willing to help me with most things I ask them to do, I cant complain all that much.

Derek and I both agreed that I should get some help during the week.  Derek's work schedule is crazy at the moment (lots of jobs starting all at once) so we decided to send the kids back to preschool so I have some time during the week to either clean, do hw or just nap.  The kids are really excited (ME TOO!) and I am thankful we can do this - it will be good for the whole family to get them out of the house.
